My Super Duper Woper Cool Glasses!!

 In December I had to go to Specsavers because I can't see things perfectly clear when they are up close. 

I got given glasses and then have to wear them when reading. I usually don't wear them at school because I think I might get bullied for having glasses like everyone else that has glasses. I only wear them at home or if I'm reading small writing, large pieces of text, or if I'm reading a book. This is how I look with my glasses on.

Hopefully, I will be able to wear my glasses more often, and thank you for taking the time to read this.

I'm Back (sort of)

 High school. So many classes. So much work. Still lots of fun. I have three friends, Ruben, Locky, and John. The new hall has just recently opened and it is humongous! We had a Powhiri and there was a big feast. To be honest I thought there would be a big mess after the feast. But no. It was still quite clean after.  I have been at Westland High School for over a term and so I thought I would get back to Kaniere and tell you what's been happening.

MY MINECAFT MASTER DESERT ISLAND!!

 We are doing the Minecraft monthly challenge and my objective is to make a desert island.                       On my desert iland, there is a bar and a forest next to it (work in progress. I have a little shack with a garden and on the right side of the shack, there is a waterfall with a sulfur hot pool. I made the sulfur hot pool with soal sand and water. On the left of the shack is a wharf and it looks good at night.  It has a ton of lights on it and i like it.

Old Man Jetkins Time A.K.A High School!!!!

 You may already know that I am year 6 so that means I will be going to High School (intermediate).

I am pretty excited because I know quite a lot of people at the High School. When I went for my visit to the High school I learned that English is reading because I thought English was learning languages.

I have got the next 6 years here and it going to be a great experience. Oh and, why do you think Westland High School is such a great experience and has lots of ways to learn?

Ultra Cool Lockdown Rappppppp

 Last week we went into lockdown and our teacher thought. Why don't I NOT educate Kereru and tell them to do a rap about Lockdown? He thought......

So here we are.

Honestly, though I loved making this rap and the real reason we did this was to think of things that we liked and make them rhyme. I hope you all really enjoy my rap. Have you ever created your own rap?                  Maybe you've made a lockdown rap even.

We've got Minecraft !!

 Yesterday we got MINECRAFT EDUCATION EDITION!!

This week we have been learning about area. My Teacher told us to do a task and the task was to make a building with a 200 block perimeter and a building with a 2500mt2 area in Minecraft.

It took an hour and a half to do...

SINCE I AM SO LAZY I called it Trump's wall then built mini houses inside the 200 block perimeter wall. I loved this activity because we were on Minecraft. We’re doing Minecraft because then we can learn area and perimeter in a fun way instead of using a boring old maths book.

The Kaniere school science extravaganza

 The Kaniere School science extravaganza is something that we are going to do on our Chromebooks. It is like a digital science fair. The reason we are doing this is since our school has never done one of these before. Sadly I haven't come up with any scientific ideas yet. The spark in my head just won't light. have you ever done a science fair?

3 2 1 BLAST OFF!

 This week we have been studying the Wonder Project. This project is where we get to Launch bottle Rockets. We have launched about 8 rockets now. We have been learning about aerodynamics.   This means how well the bottle flies through the air.  They fly pretty well. We are all very excited to see if we win!!

Emilly Car Masterpeices

 This Term we have been learning about Emilly Carr. She was born on 13 December 1871 and died on 2 March 1945. She loved to paint trees and she used a really cool technique as well. We tried painting like Emilly and this is how mine tuned out.

The Math Journey of challenges.

 This week all of the math groups are having a competition. Whoever does the most math problems gets one day off maths!! Now….. I think our maths group will win but I can’t guarantee it. So I think this a good challenge.

Clued up Kaniere Kiwis!!

Quite a while ago on Friday, we went to the Boys Brigade hall which is a big indoor court to 'Clued-up Kids.' which is a program set up to teach kids about various organizations.

The fire brigade was there, St John, Land SAR ( Search and Rescue), safety in the home, Kiwi Rail. Alpine Fault awareness, animal safety, and 4-wheeler motorbike safety

Kaniere’s early days

This week my reading group has been looking for some of Kaniere’s History on Google. We learned that Kaniere used to be spelled Kanieri. We wanted to learn this because it is quite cool and fascinating to see old photos and newsletters of the school.

I think this is a great opportunity for my reading group to see Kaniere’s past photos.

My typewriter!

 This is my typewriter. It is my Great Grandfathers Typewriter.

He gave it to me. It is quite old. My Grandfathers nickname is 

Chop Chop. I call him Chop Chop. I write a lot on it.

Chop chop used to write newspaper articles and wood chopping posters on his Typewriter. Chop Chop got his nickname because he was a famous Woodchopper. Shout out to Chop Chop!! Have you ever seen a typewriter in person? 

Making a book on Google slides.

 This week for writing we are making an ebook.  We are learning about "Show don't tell."  Show don't tell is about describing things so well that it paints a picture in the reader's head.  Examples are, Don't just say Patricia was angry, instead say,  "There was steam hissing out of her nose, horns started to immerge out of her head and she was wailing around like a little girl."

This week I also learned how to use google slides to make an eBook.

We did this by turning the slide into portrait mode.

Our eBooks will be a story that we have created ourselves. 

My story is called Kaboom and it is a plane story.

Summer Learning Journey , Kick Start

 For the Summer Learning Journey 2020 & 2021 Manaiakalani Digital Learning are running it.  

They have given us a kick start which is a practise activity. The activity is that you had to make a google picture's colour change by using Art colouring book.

Our fun reading task

 Today in reading we made Paper-copters which is based on this story.

Bart and Orville by Hilton Ayrey 

Orville was Bart's much-loved cat. From the very first day,

when Bart found him curled up in a basket beside his bed,

Orville made it very obvious that he was different from

other normal, everyday cats. When  Bart arrived home from

school, Orville would be lying in wait, in the tree overhanging the

driveway. He would pounce on Bart and they would tumble to the

ground in a wild play fight. When Bart collapsed into his favourite

bean bag to watch TV after a hard day at school, Orville always sat

on his head, purring loudly. They both seemed happy about that. 

Orville was also a very curious cat. Many, many times he had to be 

rescued from the strangest places. He was fearless and never thought 

for a moment about the consequences of his actions. There was the 

time Bart's mum went on a shopping trip to the supermarket. She got 

out of the car and found Orville clinging to the car roof with a wild 

look in his eyes. His fur was swished back against his body from the 

ride. Then there was the time he took a nap in the tumble dryer. 

Someone loaded it up and turned it on without noticing him.

He  seemed to be delighted by that. 

Unfortunately, Orville’s colourful life came to a sudden end one day 

when he was run over by a car. Bart decided to do something special 

to celebrate Orville’s adventures. After a few days of mourning, Bart 

began work on his project.

Many may think that there is something  seriously wrong about stuffing

a beloved cat and turning it into a

  remote controlled helicopter. But Bart was sure that Orville would 

have approved. 

This wasn't such a difficult project once he got started. Bart took his 

dead cat to the taxidermist and explained that he wanted Orville to be 

stuffed with his legs spread wide apart. Then he fixed Orville to a 

frame for stability and attached upwards-facing propellers on each of 

Orville's outstretched paws. After a number of trials the day came 

when Orville lifted off. With Bart manning the controls, Orville hovered 

above the ground and then rose into the sky. The legend of Orville

the cat would live on.

This is the photo of me and my friends dropping the helipapers. I liked doing it because it was really fun to make and they spun well.

My School holiday

 

This is about my school holiday.

On Friday night 8:30 at our house on the first night of the holidays I went to sleep in our bean bag in my bedroom. I don't know why I did it. I put two pillows down in front of me so my feet could go on top of the pillows for me to sleep. The pillows were a mattress. I got my snuggly blankies and in awhile I went to sleep. Mum and Dad did not know that I was sleeping in the bean bag.

It was about 11 at night and I went in to check if Rhys was asleep…..

So I told him to get up and he got up. Welllll kind of. He was sleep walking.He slumped into bed and went to sleep.

I woke up the next morning and I wondered how I got into my bed last night. Then Dad told me.

It was Saturday. We didn't do much on Saturday. I'm pretty sure we just stayed home and watched some YouTube videos. I did some other stuff but it was raining on Saturday so I didn't do much. 

  

So on Sunday I went to the Hoki pool and I played with my little brother Luke and my Dad. Dad gave me some lessons.This was about at the end of the day most of the day we didn't do much kinda like Saturday.

Monday My grandparents looked after me for the day because my mum was at work.Tuesday my BFF stayed at the house but that's really all we did. Wednesday my BFF came to my house for a sleep over.....

This is the story so far.

Orana park

 When we were at Woodend chistin camp for school camp we had the privlige to go out and go to Orana park. This is a photo of a big ape.
